Ichiban Ramen Setapak: Ramen Reviews & A Comfort Bowl in KL

Ichiban Ramen Setapak: Ramen Reviews & A Comfort Bowl in KL

I ended up in Setapak one evening after visiting a friend who had just moved there. We’d spent hours wandering the neighbourhood and chatting over tea. By the time we reached Setapak Central Mall hunger had set in. Among the many options, one spot stood out: Ichiban Ramen at Lot G-63 & 63A.

As someone who loves reading and writing ramen reviews, I couldn’t resist trying another bowl for the list. After all, ramen is one of those dishes that always surprises you—no two shops prepare it the same way. That’s what keeps me exploring all about ramen.

First Impressions

The restaurant had a casual, welcoming feel with bright lighting and clean wooden accents. Photos of steaming bowls lined the walls, promising comfort. Despite the dinner rush, we got a table without much hassle, and the service was quick.

If you can’t make it in person, Ichiban Ramen is also available for delivery through platforms like Foodpanda Malaysia

What We Tried

Signature ramen bowl with noodles, broth, and chicken topping at Ichiban Ramen

We couldn’t just order one bowl—half the joy of ramen reviews is comparing flavours.

  • Ichiban Signature Ramen – Light soy-based broth, springy noodles, and a balanced flavour.

  • Red Spicy Ramen – A gentle kick of heat without overwhelming spice.

  • Teriyaki Chicken Ramen – Sweet and savoury, with tender chicken slices.

On the side, we shared gyoza, which had a nice crisp bite.

Ichiban Ramen has other outlets too—like their Sunway Pyramid branch so it’s convenient if you’re not around Setapak.

Value & Portion

Bowls average RM 18–RM 25, which is fair for mall dining. Portions are generous enough to leave you satisfied without overdoing it.

Highlights & Drawbacks

👍 What Worked

  • Wide menu variety with different broths and toppings.

  • Convenient mall location.

  • Casual, comfortable atmosphere.

👎 What Could Improve

  • Some broths felt a little mild—I prefer deeper umami.

  • Peak hours can mean long waits.

Why Ichiban Ramen is Worth a Try

Writing ramen reviews has taught me that not every shop has to be gourmet to be worth your time. Ichiban Ramen offers comfort, reliability, and plenty of options for groups. For anyone curious about all about ramen, this is a good place to explore.

Final Thoughts

That evening in Setapak reminded me why I love chasing bowls of ramen across Kuala Lumpur. Ichiban Ramen may not be the boldest flavour in town, but it nails the basics and delivers a hearty, satisfying meal. For anyone exploring ramen reviews – others or simply curious about all about ramen, Ichiban Ramen deserves a spot on your list.

Happy Slurping,

Emily.

I had heard the buzz— chicken-based ramen, affordable prices, and rich broth—and I was curious whether it could really live up to its reputation as one of the best ramen in Malaysia . Spoiler: it did, and then some. First Impressions Finding Torigen wasn’t difficult; it’s tucked away in J’s Gate Dining on the 4th floor of Lot 10 , a lively cluster of Japanese eateries that TimeOut Kuala Lumpur  often highlights as a foodie hotspot. The atmosphere was casual but welcoming, and I liked being able to peek into the open kitchen where steam rose from huge pots of broth. There’s something reassuring about seeing your ramen crafted right in front of you. What I Tried Torigen Ramen (Original) I started with the house specialty. My bowl came with milky...
